Condemned to Love by Siobhan Davis – Free eBooks Download Although she is frightened by the strong, sadistic, and arrogant man who holds her prisoner, what keeps Olivia awake in the dark is her unwelcome attraction to him. She has a dark sensuality that cannot be hidden or denied, though she tries to accomplish both. Olivia is young, beautiful, naïve and willful to a fault. His name is Caleb, though he demands to be called Master. Blindfolded and bound, there is only a calm male voice to welcome her. Eighteen-year-old Olivia Ruiz has just woken up in a strange place. If Caleb is to get close enough to strike, he must become the very thing he abhors and kidnap a beautiful girl to train her to be all that he once was. Finally, the architect of his suffering has emerged with a new identity, but not a new nature. For twelve years he has immersed himself in the world of pleasure slaves searching for the one man he holds ultimately responsible. Kidnapped as a young boy and sold into slavery by a power-hungry mobster, he has thought of nothing but vengeance. BOOK ONE OF THE DARK DUET: Caleb is a man with a singular interest in revenge. This was a very conversation-oriented book, and ultimately, it just didn't work for me. I kept plugging along, hoping it would become better, and there were definitely moments where I became very interested in the characters and what was going on, but for the most part, I had to really force myself to pay attention. But when I started listening, and it may have been the combination of the narrator and the story, but I had trouble keeping plugged in with endless discussions about politics, philosophy, and religion, The narrator also had this weird way of putting pauses in the middle of his sentences that ended up being more distracting than effective. Thrown on top of that were vampires and magicians. The time period of the French Revolution, the issue of slavery in Britain as well as in the US and France, and well-known public figures of the time, like Robespierre all sounded great. It didn't really inspire any emotions in me, which is pretty unfortunate. It didn't make me mad, it didn't make me sad, it didn't make me glad. My biggest complaint is that it was boring. 2.5 stars I expected this to be so much better than it actually was. Chinese parents tend to overload their children by telling them to study or don’t do any of these things to the point where some kids don’t even know what fun is because they miss out on so many things. Children shouldn’t be forced to do anything if they don’t want to. I disagree with this completely because your children should be able to pick what sport or what instrument they want to play. In addition, in the novel Chua states some things her daughters were never allowed to do: “attend a sleepover, have a playdate, be in a school play, complain about not being in a school play, watch TV or play computer games, choose their own extracurricular activities, get any grade less than an A, not be the number 1 student in every subject except gym and drama, play any instruments other than the piano or violin, and not play the piano or violin”. I remember once reading a letter to a newspaper in the which the writer complained that young people claimed that they had invented sex that year when, of course, he had invented it thirty years previously. McEwan makes two rather rash assumptions. Sadly, this one of those books where McEwan seems to have not been at his best. In any case, it probably does not matter, as McEwan wrote the book, not Henderson-Davis and there are many books with similar ideas but which turn out differently. I have no idea whether this is true or not, though it would not be the first time. Home » England » Ian McEwan » On Chesil Beach Ian McEwan: On Chesil BeachĪs with earlier books, McEwan was accused of plagiarism for this novel, specifically for having borrowed from Claire Henderson-Davis’ book After the Church. Devin and his twin sister Corrin left their pack in Texas when he began having dreams about meeting his mate in Colorado. To his shock and disbelief, he’s attracted to her brother instead and he tries to deny that Devin is his mate. more iend and Beta Blaine who is gay invites him on a double date, and Corey agrees, hoping this woman will be his one. Corey who is alpha of his Rocky Mountains fenrir wolf pack has been having dream of meeting his mate, but he can't see her face. Review 2: This was a great quick read Corey didn't see Devin coming. This book seemed pure lust to me as there was no time to really develop any sort of love even though both men said "I love you." Not sure I'm going to read the other books in the series. One of the guys didn't think he was gay and fought his attraction to the other guy who swore they were meant to be mates and bond because he saw it in a dream. It was hot and there was and most of the book was about both men jockeying for dominance as they were both Alphas. Review 1: It is hard for me to express my feelings about this M/M novella. Talut, a powerful bear of a man with bright red hair, a booming laugh, and a gentle heart, and his tall, dark-haired sister, Tulie, are the leaders of the Lion Camp of the Mamutoi. But to Ayla, who was raised by the Clan of the Cave Bear, they are “the Others.” She approaches them with mixed feelings of fear and curiosity. Together they meet the Mamutoi-the Mammoth Hunters-people like Ayla. With her is Jondalar, the tall, handsome, yellow-haired man she nursed back to health and came to love.
